PASMIDA secures cooperation pledge as five-year agreement with JISMA paves way for local exhibition next year

LAHORE:

Chinese companies participating in the JISMA Guangzhou Exhibition held in China have offered to transfer modern footwear industry technology to Pakistan and extend exceptional cooperation for industrial development.

Chairman of the Pakistan Industrial Sewing Machines Importers and Dealers Association (PASMIDA), Muhammad Yaseen, said that during meetings with JISMA Guangzhou Exhibition President Zhan Meng and various Chinese companies, willingness was expressed to provide Pakistan with modern footwear machinery, equipment and accessories technology.

He said the advanced machinery displayed at the exhibition possessed extraordinary production capacity, and such technology is rarely available in Pakistan, whereas countries like Bangladesh, India and Vietnam are making extensive use of it.

He further stated that PASMIDA and JISMA already have a five-year cooperation agreement in place. Preliminary discussions were also held regarding organising a similar exhibition in Pakistan next year, in which strong participation from Chinese companies is expected.

Yaseen said Chinese institutions had assured cooperation in upgrading Pakistan’s industries. Through the use of modern technology, Pakistan can manufacture products of international standards, significantly boosting exports and valuable foreign exchange earnings.

He added that a six-member Pakistani delegation participated in the international exhibition and later visited different cities in China, where meetings were held with representatives of industrial organisations to discuss awareness about modern technology, potential opportunities for Pakistan, and training for skilled workers.

He appealed to the government to take this offer seriously and benefit from the proposed cooperation for transferring modern technology to Pakistan. He said this would enable local industries to achieve production capabilities in line with global standards and become more competitive in exports.

JISMA Foreign Trade Manager Zoe Chu said they are keen to promote strong relations and cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese companies. She added that Pakistani companies should fully benefit from the offers made by Chinese firms, and they would provide full support in this regard.
