PCJCCI says quality, modern packaging and supply chain management key to tapping potential

LAHORE:

Pakistan has tremendous potential to expand its mango exports to China by focusing on quality improvement, modern packaging, branding and efficient supply chain management, said Adeel Munawar, Commercial Ambassador of the Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI).

He said China remains one of the largest and most promising markets for Pakistani mangoes, and growing consumer demand for premium-quality fruits presents a valuable opportunity for exporters. “Pakistani mangoes are internationally renowned for their unique taste, aroma and quality. However, to maximise export potential in China, we must focus on meeting evolving consumer preferences through improved quality standards, better packaging and value-added products,” he said.

Munawar noted that Chinese consumers are increasingly prioritising quality over price and are willing to pay a premium for high-quality agricultural products. He stressed the importance of adopting modern cultivation techniques, post-harvest management practices and international certification standards to enhance the competitiveness of Pakistani mangoes.

He further stated that Pakistan’s share in China’s mango imports remains relatively low despite the country’s strong production capacity and reputation for producing some of the world’s finest mango varieties. According to him, this gap reflects a significant untapped opportunity for exporters.

“Pakistan has all the necessary ingredients to become a leading supplier of premium mangoes to China. Through strategic marketing, improved logistics and consistent quality assurance, we can substantially increase our exports and strengthen bilateral agricultural trade,” he added.

Munawar highlighted that investment in cold-chain infrastructure, preservation technologies and modern transportation systems would help maintain product quality during transit and improve market access for Pakistani exporters.

He concluded that enhanced cooperation between Pakistan and China in the agriculture sector would not only boost mango exports but also create new opportunities for farmers, exporters and agribusiness stakeholders, contributing to sustainable economic growth and stronger trade relations between the two countries.
