Both sides agree to remain in close contact, continue consultations on matters of mutual interest

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke late last night with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

In a post on X, MoFA said the two leaders discussed the latest developments in the regional situation and welcomed the positive momentum in ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting regional peace and stability.

According to the ministry, they expressed hope that an early and constructive outcome in the ongoing engagement between the United States and Iran would be reached, contributing to lasting peace and stability in the region.

Both sides also agreed to remain in close contact and continue consultations on matters of mutual interest, the ministry added.

On Friday, DPM Ishaq Dar and European Union High Representative/Vice President Kaja Kallas welcomed recent progress towards a US–Iran understanding and expressed hope for a durable agreement in a phone call, according to the MoFA.

According to an official statement, the Foreign Office said the discussion focused on recent developments in US–Iran engagement, with both sides “welcoming the progress achieved through sustained diplomatic engagement” and expressing hope that these efforts would “soon lead to a durable understanding and peaceful resolution”.

They reaffirmed that “dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable means to resolve conflicts and advance lasting peace and stability.” The two leaders also discussed broader regional developments during the conversation.

The Foreign Office said the exchange reflected a shared commitment to diplomatic engagement as the preferred path for resolving international disputes.
